The snowboard halfpipe dominated Australia's charge on day four of the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, as the green and gold basked in the glory of Matt Graham's silver medal-winning performance.

Teenager

Emily Arthur, competing 12 hours after Graham placed second in the men's moguls event, finished 11th in the women's halfpipe final in what was her Olympic debut.

The 18-year-old began the final in positive fashion with a first run earning a score of 48.25.

She was in ninth place ahead of the second run but it came unstuck for Arthur when she fell on a landing to score 9.25 and slip down the standings.

Arthur, taking part in the event in which countrywoman Torah Bright won Olympic gold (2010) and silver (2014), crashed again on her third run to post a score of 25.00.

Wearing a swollen lip from her fall on her final run, Arthur said she was elated with her Olympic debut.

"I really went for it in my last run and I definitely could have moved up a bit with that run," she told Channel Seven.

"But it's okay, I'm still stoked with 11th. My first Olympics I got 11th, I'm really happy."

American sensation Chloe Kim, at just 17, won gold after producing a score of 93.75 on the first of her three runs and she then topped that display with a near-perfect 98.75 on her final attempt.

A few hours later it was the men's turn in the halfpipe qualifying rounds and Australia's two-time world champion >Scotty James encountered little trouble in progressing to Wednesday's final

.

James, Australia's flagbearer at last Friday's opening ceremony, was second on the overall standings with 96.75 to sit behind two-time Olympic champion Shaun White, with the American leading qualifying with 98.50.

Australia will also be represented in the final by

Kent Callister, who had to sweat it out during the completion of the second run before making it through in 12th position with a score of 77.00.

Fellow Australian

Nathan Johnstone, however, missed out, as his best score of 62.25 was only good enough for 22nd place.

Australia's day four campaign concluded with the cross-country skiing sprint classic, with

Casey Wright (48th),

Jess Yeaton (58th) and

Aimee Watson (63rd) competing in the women's event and

Phil Bellingham (65th) flying the flag in the men's qualification.
